In the observance of World Rabies Day on 28 September, I am pleased to share with you seven video series from the World Rabies Day Web site.


Rabies is a deadly viral disease that is transmitted through the saliva of infected animals such as dogs, cats, monkeys, bats, and other mammals.


In these videos, Peter Costa, Communications Director at the Global Alliance for Rabies Control, provides information about how you can protect yourself, your pets and your community from Rabies; a deadly yet preventable disease.


The series discusses how rabies is transmitted, which animals are most likely to be rabid, symptoms and diagnoses, prevention measures, World Rabies Day and medical advancements.

Acetaminophen causes allergies?

Initial studies in the US showed that there could be an association between the commonly-used pain killer, acetaminophen, and triggering asthmatic attacks. About 40% of children have had asthmatic wheezes years after taking the drug. Other findings included the development of eczema and allergic rhinitis. Until such association were fully established, experts do not advice staying away from the popular drug. Read more below.

Junk foods: Truth in advertising?

Television junk food advertisements may soon find lesser air time on British TV after protests banning them before 21:00 everyday. About 83% of the 2,000 people surveyed said that it becomes hard to encourage children to stay away from junk foods because of such adverts.


I think those who advocate the cause should also look on other media such as in print or radios or movies. Parents should also be educated as well on how to entice children to prefer healthier foods. Further details below, please.

VIDEO: The first pregnant man

Here is an interesting video that shows a man who was born as a woman and had a sex-change. Stealing the limelight two years ago, he became the first man to get pregnant and have a baby. He is married to Nancy, who could not sire a child because her uterus was surgically removed. They are expecting their third baby. Watch the video below.

Ang ibig sabihin ng stage III-B endometrial cancer ay kumalat na ang cancer cells sa labas ng matres. Ito ay maaaring kumalat sa karatig na bahagi ng katawan gaya ng kwelyo ng matres o cervix, pwerta o vagina, atbp.

Dahilan nito, ang operasyon ng isinagawa sa kanya ay maaaring hindi sapat upang matanggal na husto ang mga cancer cells. Ito ay mahirap gawin sapagka't hindi lahat ng cancer cells ay madaling tanggalin sa operasyon. May mga cancer cells din na hindi nakikita sa pamamagitan ng mata lamang. Kinakailangan din ng microscope upang gawin ito.

Kung kaya't ipinayo sa inyo na dagdagan ang gamutan ng chemotherapy. Kinukumpleto nito ang gamutan. Bagama't hindi maiiwasan ang mga side effects ng kahit anumang gamot, ang layunin nito ay masaid ang cancer.

Ang mga dapat na bigyang-pansin sa ganitong sitwasyon ay ang edad, pangkasalukuyang kalusugan at uri at pagkalat ng cancer ng iyong ina. Malaking isipin din ang halaga ng gamutan. Dapat din na ihambing ang mga ito sa anumang magiging advantage/disadvantage ng gamutan para sa kanya.

Kinakailangang pag-usapan ng inyong pamilya ng mabuti kung ibig pa ninyo na mag-chemotherapy. Kung anuman ang inyong desisyon ay isangguni sa inyong manggagamot.
