Low temperature in the Philippines?


Yes folks, today marks a record in the country when the summer capital Baguio City in northern Philippines erased yesterday's record of 9.8C.
The mercury dropped lower to 9.6C in the city of Pines, the weather bureau said.
Residents in the city that is elevated at 1,500 meters (5,100 feet) who are used to cold weather were reported to put on heavy clothing and ski masks.
According to hospital officials at the Baguio General Hospital, between 10 and 15 people visit the hospital everyday complaining of fever, cough and colds due to the cold weather.
At least 50 children had been diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and over 20 children had pneumonia.
The lowest temperature ever recorded in the city was 6.3C on 18 January 1961.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila recorded its coldest temperature for this season at 18.5C on Wednesday.
Cold temperature also prevailed in the northern provinces including Batanes and Cagayan.
The weather bureau said that the cold weather may last until the second week of next month.
The public was advised to take the necessary precautions.
